Teen Services

The Delray Beach Public Library is not just a place for books. The library has a teen room exclusively reserved for teens in middle and high school.

All users of the teen room must be in middle or high school, and are expected to observe the library’s code of conduct at all times.

The teen room is a great place for those looking for a quiet space to study, catching up on the latest young adult literature, or just meeting up with friends. The teen room is equipped with two booth tables, and comfortable seating for reading, writing, or simply using our wifi.

Outside of the teen room, the library has 40 computers for public use, and a computer lab where you can sign up for computer classes or write your A+ paper. We have databases to help you with your homework, job search, and general entertainment. Teens also have the opportunity to reserve the library’s music studio, or learn how to use our 3D printer.

For those who would prefer to study in groups or quietly alone, you can reserve a study room with your library card, just call (561) 266-0196.

For questions about programs or volunteering please contact Cicely Douglas at cicely.douglas@delraylibrary.org or call (561) 819-6405.

Earn Community Service Hours at the Library!

All teens in middle and high school are always welcome to attend our various programs. But if you’re looking to earn community service hours, we encourage you to participate in any of the following Teen Advisory Board at Delray Beach Public Library (TAB @ DBPL) activities.

At the beginning of every school year, new board officers are elected by you, the volunteers. Board members work closely with the Teen Librarian, gain leadership experience by presiding over meetings, and coordinating volunteer activities.

Earn community service hours by enhancing your computer and writing skills. Digital collaborators write book reviews, help develop marketing materials for our programs, and get to learn about the library’s technology and gadgets.

This year’s volunteers will have the opportunity to create the DBPLs online newsletter from the ground up. Articles, current events, and book reviews are among the opportunities to enhance your creative writing and computer skills.

Teens have a variety of opportunities to earn service hours through reading. Volunteers may participate in as many book clubs as they’d like.

Sign up to tutor a 3rd, 4th, or 5th grader in Math, Science, Reading, and Writing.

Please contact Cicely Douglas at cicely.douglas@delraylibrary.org or call 561-819-6405.
