Technology, Training and Innovation Lab

Using cutting-edge technologies in innovative ways to improve the way we live, work and play! Become a part of the creative movement at the Library!

The Delray Beach Public Library’s Technology, Training and Innovation Lab (formerly the Creative Cloud Lab) is designed to allow for creative collaboration and innovation among members of the community by providing resources and training for digital media production, research, and technological exploration. These resources include:

  • Access to Adobe Creative Cloud Applications, including industry standards such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro.
  • Specialized equipment such as DSLR Cameras, Virtual Reality headsets, backdrops, and photographic portrait lighting.
  • Online databases for engaging in academic or business research, conducting job searches, or learning new software.
  • Professional staff and volunteers able to assist with using and troubleshooting technology.

Structured classes designed to introduce library patrons to Adobe Creative Cloud Applications are held on Wednesday nights from 5:30-7:30 PM. Class dates and descriptions can be found on the library’s calendar. Space is limited and registration is required to attend classes. Please register for classes either in person at the library reference desk, by emailing reference@delraylibrary.org, or by calling 561-266-0196.

Open lab hours are currently held on Fridays from 2:00-5:00 PM. No appointment is necessary and patrons may come and go as they please, however equipment is available on a first come, first served basis.

The Technology, Training and Innovation Lab is located on the library’s second floor, behind the Small Business Development Center at the west end of the building.

Class Schedule – Summer 2019

All classes are held on Wednesdays from 5:30-7:30 PM. Space is limited and registration is required to attend classes. Please register for classes at the library reference desk, or by calling 561-266-0196.

May 15 – Photoshop Level 1

Gain familiarity with the Photoshop user interface and learn to perform basic photo editing tasks such as: importing images, making selections, working with layers, adjusting hue/saturation, and exporting projects.

May 22 – Photoshop Level 2

Learn how to produce short animations using Photoshop. Get to know the Photoshop timeline and explore keyframing techniques while reviewing skills such as working with layers and making accurate selections.

May 29 Intro to Adobe Illustrator

Create a unique logo from scratch using Adobe Illustrator. Understand the difference between vector and raster images while familiarizing yourself with Illustrator’s powerful toolset. Work with lines, curves, and polygons, incorporate text into your design, and explore different ways to share your finished project.

June 5 – Podcasting with Adobe Audition

Come see how to develop your own podcasting workflow with an introduction to Adobe Audition. Record voice interviews, add background music, and polish your production using Audition’s advanced editing and mixing features.

June 19 – Intro to Photoshop, with Aaron Pepis

Join PPA Master of Photography Aaron Pepis as he shares decades of experience working with Adobe Photoshop. Receive a detailed introduction to each of the Photoshop tools and understand their application to the world of professional photography.

July 3 – Premiere Level 1

Gain an introduction to Adobe Premiere video editing software. Understand the Premiere user interface and learn how to add video clips to a project, perform basic editing, adjust audio volume, and add transitions.

July 10 – Premiere Level 2

Further develop your video editing skills with Adobe Premiere. Change the playback speed of a clip, animate a title page, work with effects controls, and create a composite using layered video clips.

July 17 – Editing and Mixing with Adobe Audition

Learn about post-production audio processes with an introduction to Adobe Audition. Work with multi-track audio to perform non-destructive editing techniques, adjust volume and panning using a digital mixer, understand the purpose of equalization, and get an overview of effects and filters that can be applied to audio tracks.

July 24- Photoshop Level 1
