03 Jul Summer Reading List: Happy July!
Happy July everyone – the start of a new month and a holiday week! To celebrate, we are going to recommend some easy porch reads, perfect for a late-night summer BBQ.
If you don’t want to commit yourself to a lengthy read this week, a collection of short stories may be the way to go. What It Means When a Man Falls from the Sky by Lesley Nneka Arimah includes several tales of interpersonal relationships and their ties. This collection of 12 short stories is powerful and fresh.
Looking for a modern, upscale feel? Rich and Pretty by Rumaan Alam is a fun, contemporary New York read. Two best friends live fast-paced lives as new adults in the Big Apple and now rarely have the time to even see each other. This novel explores how the attachments we form in childhood adapt to our adult lives and how friendship endures even as paths diverge. This story is full of warmth and humor, and will appeal to any reader who has experienced a similar life-long bond with a friend.
An, nostalgia. If you have grown up on Sarah Dessen books, you will be ecstatic to know that her new novel, Once and For All, was released last month, and we have it! This novel focuses on Louna, who has worked at her mother’s wedding planning business which has shaped her cynical views on romance. However, she may start to change her mind upon the arrival of none other than serial-dater Ambrose. Even if you have never experienced the magic that is Sarah Dessen, this book is sure to be a delight for young adults and older readers alike.
We hope you all had a wonderful month of June, and we are welcoming July with open arms! As we come into the next month, we would like you all to remember:
