The Summer Leadership Academy provides an innovative and socially aware reading and hands-on programming initiative with a mission to encourage educational growth and leadership skills. The SLA program is open to all youth in our community and encompasses all summer reading activities at the Delray Beach Public Library. The reading program aspect of the SLA program provides children the chance to read books based on 7 themes during the 7 weeks of the program. These themes are Empathy, Respect, Honesty, Teamwork, Responsibility, Confidence, and Determination.

Upon registering, our participants will receive a summer reading log sheet for their age group (ages 1 – 5 & under or ages 6 – 12) a book gift, and an incentive prize! Each week, children will bring in their filled in log sheet to receive a stamp for reaching their age group’s reading goal and a new book gift that highlights the upcoming week’s core value! Sign up your young reader (. . . and future leader) today!
