Welcome to the Delray Beach Public Library!
Welcome to the Delray Beach Public Library. Our facility is designed to be a clean and pleasant place for selecting materials, reading, researching, studying, writing, computing, and attending library or community programs and meeting.
This Code of Conduct is intended to encourage behavior that supports the Delray Beach Public Library’s Vision, Mission, and Values. Behavior becomes unacceptable when it interferes with these principles, causes damage or injury, or infringes on the rights of other. Those willing to modify unacceptable behavior are welcome to stay. However, those unable to comply will be asked to leave.
The following are examples of unacceptable behavior:
- Smoking, sleeping, and/or bathing is prohibited.
- Eating and/or drinking is prohibited except in authorized areas.
- Leaving children unattended is prohibited.
- Loitering and/or disorderly conduct by children, minors, or adults is prohibited.
- Loud, disruptive, abusive, or threatening language/behavior is prohibited.
- Noisy or disruptive use of equipment such as cell phone, radio, compact disc player, or MP3 player is prohibited.
- Offensive body odor constituting a nuisance or health and safety concern is prohibited.
- Solicitation and/or distribution of materials other than those authorized by the Delray Beach Public Library is prohibited.
- Use of inline or roller skates, scooters, skateboards, or like apparatuses is prohibited on library premises.
- Bicycles must be parked in designated outside areas.
- Rearrangements, misuse, or damaging of library equipment or furniture is prohibited.
- Animals, except service animals, are prohibited.
- Loitering and/or disorderly conduct by children, minors, or adults is prohibited.
- Inappropriate use of library computers is prohibited.
- These include, but are not limited to: tampering or altering with equipment or software; downloading or installing any program on a hard drive; and sending, displaying, or printing obscene materials.
- Adults using the Children's Area when not accompanied by a child.
- Non-family use of restrooms in the Children's area.
- Patrons not between ages 13 and 17 using the Young Adult Library.
