Write On! Teen Writing Contest

Calling all teenage authors! The library’s Teen Advisory Board (TAB@DBPL) is hosting its inaugural teen writing contestWrite On! We’ll be highlighting the best in local poetry and prose and awarding first-place and honorable mention prizes in each category.



  • You must be between the ages of 13 and 17 to enter.
  • Entries should speak to this year's theme of "community." (Interpret it however you like!)
  • Each piece should be no more than 2000 words.
  • You may enter 1 poem and 1 prose piece for a maximum of 2 total entries.
  • Formatting should be 12pt Times New Roman or similar.
  • At the top of each document, please provide a title and specify the type of submission (poetry or prose).
  • To ensure unbiased evaluation, do not write your name on the document.
  • Files should be saved as .pdf, .doc, or .docx and emailed to State your name and age in the body of the email.
