June 11: Florida Public Archeology Network: Malachi Fenn, Public Archaeology Coordinator for FPAN’s Southeast Region, facilitates as children systematically excavate a sandwich to explore the concepts of stratigraphy and survey, emphasizing how archaeologists use the scientific method in the field. Fenn also brings the people of the past alive through the things they left behind underwater. Learn about the basics of underwater archaeology through a shipwreck on a tarp!

June 18: Movie: Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs ™ (PG): In Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Manny, Sid, Diego, and the gang stumble into a hidden world where dinosaurs still rule—and danger lurks around every corner. When Sid’s wild adventure lands him in trouble, the herd must brave this prehistoric jungle to save him before they become part of the food chain.

June 25: Sea Turtle Adventures, Inc. Beach Cleanup: Meet DBPL at Anchor Park, (340 S Ocean Blvd, Delray Beach, FL 33483) to clean up local beaches with Kaleigh Gucker, Sea Turtle Specialist. Collect unwanted litter and learn about the importance of maintaining healthy shorelines. Parking not included. Be sure to bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and wear light-weight clothing and a protective head covering. All children and family members registered for our Thursday, June 25, Sea Turtle Adventures, Inc. Beach Cleanup are responsible for providing a completed Safety Waiver the day of the event. Copies of the waiver are available at the Children’s Desk once registration is verified. Please be sure to bring the completed copies on the day of the event or you will not be able to participate.

July 2: American Shark Conservancy SharkSmarts™: National Geographic explorers introduce key concepts in shark biology, research techniques, and marine conservation through hands-on activities and team-based learning.

July 9: Movie: Walking with Dinosaurs (PG): Patchi, a young dinosaur, learns to survive and eventually becomes a leader in his dangerous prehistoric world, blending adventures with real dinosaur facts. No Registration. Walkins Welcome!
July 16: FPAN Beyond Artifacts! ™ Archaeology has been portrayed in movies as an action-packed, dangerous science. And while archeologists believe their jobs are action-packed, they understand that the right tools, along with knowledge and experience, keep their work safe. Join us for Archeology Goes to the Movies and Archeology and Pseudoscience as we distinguish between fictional and real science.
