In a recent U. S. News & World Report article, National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Dana
Giola stated "More than income, social class, or education, the more you read, the greater
likelihood that you will do well in school, be successful in business, and become involved in
your community." Chairman Giola went on to say "Reading allows us to achieve more of our
personal potential than almost my other activity."
