Delray Beach Public Library's Prepares to Celebrate Its' 100 Year Anniversary!!
The Delray Beach Public Library, located at 100 West Atlantic Avenue, begins pre-planning for their upcoming 100 Year Anniversary Celebration to take place in 2013. The Library has put together a "Centennial Committee" and has extended an invitation for members of the community to get involved.
The Delray Beach Public Library began in 1913 with a small collection of books gathered by a group of women interested in the educational, cultural, and recreational needs of the community, The Delray Beach Woman's Club. Their goal was to provide enrichment to the lives of the citizens of Delray Beach. The library of today remains committed to the legacy of these dedicated ladies who are still involved with the Library.
Co-Chairs Joann Haros of the Woman's Club and Dorothy MacDiarmid have put together a wonderful committee working on goals and the vision of the committee. Many wonderful ideas for community outreach, fundraising and publicity are being developed.
